Hello and welcome to the Open Source Developers' Club.
In December 2004 the first Open Source Developers' Conference was run. One of the most interesting parts of the conference organisation was the bringing together of the different open source programming groups and including them in the one conference.
This lead to the idea that we can all benefit from an alliance all year and not only at the conference.
Many user groups find that they run a number of talks and sessions which could have a benefit beyond just their members. In Melbourne Perl Monger's case these are on primarily open source topics and issues which are by no means limited to Perl. Examples of such talks include Postgres and other database systems, XSLT, XHTML, CSS and JavaScript - to name just a few. The Linux Users of Victoria Programmers sig also has the same type of agenda - where some talks are specifically Linux and others are more broadly based.
In February 2005 the idea of the Open Source Developers' Club was formed to facilitate this very need.
Meetings occur every two months and are hosted, alternately, by Melbourne Perl Monger and the Melbourne PHP User Group. We invite all open source programmers to join us.
